There always has been this argument that why we need detox when our body has its own natural mechanism of detox, taken care of by the liver and kidney. It is fact that with liver and kidney filtering our blood, our body’s level of toxins will increase to a dangerous level.
Toxins can be seen as tongue coating, frequent headaches, constipation, bad breath, body odor, skin issues, acne, etc.
Detox does not mean not having food for a while but having the right food at the right time that helps cleanse your body.
Sometimes because of our current lifestyle choices and excessive release of cortisol hormones due to prolonged stress, our gut system gets deranged. Our digestion becomes sluggish and Agni becomes slow. We need to be on a detox diet, so that our organs can become more robust. Detox will help in removing any clogs, and excess fat from blood vessels and also clean our intestine and colon area.
In these 7 days, we will work on various requirements of our body’s needs. It is important to stay positive and motivated during this phase.
You should avoid eating outside, junk or processed packaged food. Keep yourself hydrated throughout and take an ample amount of rest.
Day 1 & 2: Agnivardhak: These two days focuses on giving a quick reset to metabolism and improving Agni, the digestive fire of your body. Deepana or metabolic stimulant food are added in these meals.
Day 3: Cleansing day: On the third day, we focus on the deep core cleansing. Various Pachana category herb and food works to clean the small intestine, large intestine, and colon area. As Agni becomes low during this, the Ayurvedic meals curated are comforting and very easy for the gut to absorb.
Day 4: Anti-Inflammatory Day: Food rich in fiber and adaptogen helps reducing inflammation. According to Ayurveda, astringent-rich food helps in absorbing excess fluid around and reduces inflammation. Day four of detox program, also helps in reducing our cortisol levels.
Day 5: Probiotic Day: From Day 5th onwards, we move towards facilitating our body to regain its lost vitality. Gut flora is one very important aspect, where good bacterias' of the body needs to flourish. Probiotic and prebiotic-rich food are important for gut health. And gut health is responsible for lot of other health problems.
Day 6: Rasayana Day: Post a good detox it is important that we move towards rejuvenating our body, a strengthened digestive mechanism helps in better assimilation and absorption of food and nutrients. This will help our body to become fitter and stronger.
Day 7: Prana Flow: ‘ Prana means life, and there is positive prana flow if we are healthy, therefore following an eating habit that helps life flow smoothly in our body, is imperative. Pranic healing diet should be our lifestyle, so that your body does not feel sluggish or low in energy.
