Vegetable oats cheela

Vegetable oats cheela, often called oats dosa, is a light yet filling breakfast that blends the goodness of fiber-rich oats with fresh vegetables. It supports steady energy, keeps digestion smooth, and is naturally gluten-free. Crisp on the edges and soft inside, it’s quick to prepare and perfect for busy mornings — nourishing the body without feeling heavy while adding a delicious savory twist to your day.

Ingredient

  • 1/4 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup grated mixed vegetables
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped onion
  • 1/4 tsp cumin seeds
  • A pinch of turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • A pinch of black pepper powder
  • 1/2 tsp ghee
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish (optional)

Instruction 

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats and water. Rolled oats should be roasted and grinded to make powder.
  • After grinding, mash the oats slightly with a fork to create a thicker consistency. You don't need to make a smooth paste; some texture is fine.
  • Add the grated vegetables, finely chopped onion, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, salt, and black pepper powder to the soaked oats. Mix everything well to form a batter.
  • Heat a non-stick pan or skillet over medium heat and add the ghee.
  • Once the ghee is hot, pour the oat batter onto the pan and spread it out gently to form a round cheela. You can make it as thin or thick as you prefer.
  • Cook the cheela for 2-3 minutes on one side until it becomes golden brown and crisp. Use a spatula to flip it over carefully.
  • Cook the other side for an additional 2-3 minutes until it's also golden brown and cooked through.
  • Transfer the vegetable oats cheela to a plate.
  • Garnish with fresh coriander leaves if desired
