Ayurveda Diet Tips for Fat Loss

According to Ayurveda Obesity is described as “Sthaulya”. Continuous eating of high-fat food like junk food, prolonged sedentary lifestyle, not getting sufficient sleep may lead to accumulation of body fat which get deposited into different body channels. Unhealthy lifestyle habits tend to disturb Agni (digestive fire) in the body, which causes indigestion and increases toxins in the body. Ama (toxins) further disturbs the natural metabolic system of the body resulting in the formation of more fatty tissues.

The early signs of the high percentage of fat in the body are seen as excessive lethargy, exertion, increased hunger, thirst, the weakness which later convert into severe complications if not treated.

Fat Loss Diet principles as per Ayurveda Diet

  • Do not overfill your stomach. The stomach should be divided into three portions and one portion should be filled with food, 1/3rd by water and 1/3rd should be kept empty for movement of Vata dosha.
  • An increase in fat percentage is because of a high Kapha imbalance. Foods that are hot, sharp, and penetrating in nature should be consumed. Pungent, Astringent, and bitter-tasting food should be consumed more.
