The word Ayurveda means the science of life. Ayurveda believes the human body and the universe are made of 5 elements. They are Earth, Fire, Air, Water, and Space. It also exists on the balance of 3 substances: wind, phlegm & bile. The wind is Vata, Bile is Pitta & Phelgm is Kapha.
According to Ayurveda, a person's body and skin type are based on those 3 doshas.
Vata
Vata dominant person, they have dry and rough skin (they need to moisturize it daily). Ashwagandha reduces skin dryness when added to the face mask.
Pitta
People with Pitta tend to have oily skin that is prone to acne and rosacea. This type of skin needs more cooling elements like aloe vera and sandalwood.
Kapha
Kapha skin tends to be cold and oily and it may be prone to pimples and whiteheads.
Here are some face masks according to your skin doshas -
Mash 1 ripe banana, add 1 cap. of Vitamin E. Make a smooth paste, then apply to your face, wait for 10-20 mins and rinse off with lukewarm water.
Or
1/4 cup yogurt
1/2 rose water
a pinch of turmeric
1/2 tbsp of chickpea flour
Mix all of them together and make a fine paste. Apply it on your face for 10-15 mins and rinse off while rubbing your face gently with lukewarm water. Apply oil-based moisturizer (sesame oil can be used)
1/4 cup of Aloe Vera (make sure it is chemical-free)
A few drops of rose water
Cotton balls
Soak cotton balls in rose water and dab on your skin to clean them.
Apply aloe vera gel and leave it on the skin for 10-15 mins. Wash off with lukewarm water and apply a gentle moisturizer like geranium oil.
1 tbsp honey
A pinch of turmeric
Mix them together, apply and leave them on your face for 10-15 mins. Wash off with lukewarm water.
Or
You can use Multani Mitti and rose water, mix them. Leave it on your face for 15 mins and wash off with lukewarm water.
